Review of The Deadly Favour on Goodreads

  • ‘The Deadly Favour’ is a fantasy romance story. The story is set in 2015 and is the first of its series. Two worlds are at war, separated by a void. A truce is keeping some peace, and the story begins when Lady Bessy and Lady Hawise, two widows, enter the story. When I decide to read books in a series, I always look for the story foundation and character introduction. The lesbian romance between Bessy and Hawise began very well. They both had their own back story, and all the sideline plots came, enticing the fantasy elements. The literature is written well, and the author has paid much attention to ensure the reader is much entertained. I particularly enjoyed the interactions, the concept of the storyline and the ending.

I recommend this book to fantasy readers.

  • Personal growth, war, friendship, travel and adventure. All in one short book. The author has a remarkable imagination. This is an excellent first novel. I am eager to read more by this author. With a little better editing this book could have been astounding.
  • Thoroughly enjoyed this book. I quickly became engrossed with the characters and Nebula’s adventures. I liked the romance aspects of the book, which, together with the Bildungsroman aspect of the book, it reminded me of Austen or Bronte. I enjoyed it so much, I just had to start the next book in the series!
